3 Hacks for Safer Bouldering
While bouldering, every fall is a ground fall. The right equipment like crash pads and a good spotter can improve the likelihood of landing safely in a fall. Here are 3 tips for safer boulding.
1. Focus on Feet, Feet, FEET! This will help you in two different ways while both climbing and falling: It will lessen the chance of a falling because there is more contact with the rock and it will also keep you from twisting an ankle or knee when you fall (because you're landing on your feet).
2. Use a Spotter. Spotters are super nice to have around. Most importantly they help you land on the crash pad should you fall. Their job is not to catch you but rather help you land correctly. They can also spray beta at you from the ground.
3. Careful on Slopers. Slopers and slabs are often offer the least secure purchase. Keep your butt in and hour center of gravity close to the rock. Be ready by planning for your fall when the schmeering gets tough.
