Moon Caves

Moon Caves is where you can find the highest concentration of boulders problems in the Upper Arkansas Valley. A limestone bluff jutting out of the hills overlooking Salida offers hundreds of problems in the roofs, alcoves and faces of sharp limestone. The area offers flat landings and SOLITUDE.

The crag is located at 8000 in high colorado desert but shady routes can be found any hour of the day.

Routes include top outs, long traverses, highballs and downclimbs.

Getting There:

The Moon Caves are located 3.5 miles north of the F street bridge in downtown Salida. They can be accessed from the Arkansas Hills trails system or forest road 173. (low clearance vehicles should approach 173 from the north)
